Older Newborn Session with a 6-Week-Old Baby Boy

Can you still do newborn photos with an older baby? I get this question asked a lot...and the answer is yes! An older baby's newborn photography shoot done outdoors is a great way to capture the beauty and innocence of your new baby. There are lots of reasons why you may miss that initial three week window and still want the newborn "style" of images for your new baby. With the right location and lighting, we can still create stunning images that you will cherish for years to come.

This baby was 6 weeks old at the time of his shoot. Babies this age can't bend as easily and don't like to be handled as much as a 2-week-old so the posing and props I use are much more simple for these shoots. But boy, this guy aced his session and slept nearly the entire time! He woke up at the very end just in time for me to capture a few open eyed photos.

Many babies find being outdoors more comfortable than being indoors. The fresh air and sunshine can help to calm and soothe them.

If you're looking for beautiful, natural photos of your newborn, an older baby newborn style photography shoot done outdoors is still a great option. Even with simple props and posing, we can still create stunning images that you will cherish for years to come.

Sherman Oaks Newborn Baby Girl

I traveled a whole seven minutes away for this at-home newborn photography session. The family had a perfect front yard with lots of shade and low shrubs and flowers to create this magical little garden area.

Los Angeles Newborn Photographer – I am Spartacus!

Ok I know that's a line from Kirk Douglas' character in the movie Spartacus, but it's such a great title for this post. So I am sticking with it!

So what kind of Los Angeles newborn photography session do you do when daddy starred as Spartacus on the hit Starz TV series? Well you do a shoot with swords, knives, armor...and a lightsaber of course!

And don't worry, all of the weapons were from the series so they are props - totally fake and made out of rubber - and completely safe next to the baby.

I receive a lot of messages asking me what winter newborn sessions are like. Or what happens when its cold out. Well luckily I am in Southern California and we can have nice weather year-round. When we do have colder days though, as a Los Angeles newborn photographer I always ensure the baby, or in this case babies, are nice and cozy at all times no matter what the temperature is. I have a few tricks to do this as well as warmer knit rompers and thicker blankets for the newborns to keep them nice and toasty. Los Angeles Newborn Photographer – Summer Champ

As a Los Angeles newborn photographer, I usually do my newborn portrait sessions in the morning hours when babies are the most sleepiest. However, when its very hot out (like it is now), I will push them to two hours before sunset when its a bit cooler out. And this little rock star had no issues with the time and slept like a champ for his sunset newborn photo shoot. But of course being a champ runs in his family. Daddy just happens to be a world famous British racing driver who won the 2009 Formula One World Championship, amongst several other titles!

For this Disney princess, we have three custom designed Disney-inspired princess dresses - Snow White, Cinderella and Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
