Ok I know that's a line from Kirk Douglas' character in the movie Spartacus, but it's such a great title for this post. So I am sticking with it!

So what kind of Los Angeles newborn photography session do you do when daddy starred as Spartacus on the hit Starz TV series? Well you do a shoot with swords, knives, armor...and a lightsaber of course!

And don't worry, all of the weapons were from the series so they are props - totally fake and made out of rubber - and completely safe next to the baby.

This is the year of twins. So many twins, nearly every month I have had at least one set of twins. For these adorable baby girls, I brought in lots of fresh flowers for their Sherman Oaks newborn photography session since this hot summer has pretty much killed all of the wildflowers.

The Bachelor Mansion – Agoura Hills Newborn Photographer

Meet the youngest guy to ever move into The Bachelor's house. Yup this little guy's family owns THAT house! And at just a week old, he is already a little heart-breaker. As a Los Angeles newborn photographer, I have photographed several celebrity newborn sessions, but this was the first time that the house was the "celebrity"! For this Agoura Hills outdoor newborn photography session, I traveled to that amazing house in Agoura Hills and just had to include some of their gorgeous red roses. Additionally, his family had a few props of their own to incorporate (that vintage scale and bowl) that have been in their family for decades and have even been used for their own newborn shoots.

Sherman Oaks Outdoor Newborn Photography – Awake Baby

Another common questions I get asked as a Los Angeles newborn photographer is "what happens if the baby doesn't sleep?" Well I capture photos of them awake of course! The baby will usually drift off to sleep after one or two prop setups so that I can get the more difficult posed newborn portraits at the end. Living in Southern California definitely has its perks - we usually have good weather year round! And as a Los Angeles newborn photographer, this means outdoor newborn photography sessions year round! Which is good since these sessions are my favorite thing to shoot! We actually had freakish VERY warm weather for this fall session, so I was a hot sweaty mess, but the baby was nice as cozy the entire time making for some very beautiful images.

This tiny 5 pound baby girl's all outdoor San Fernando Valley newborn photography session has been a favorite one to date. It was a HOT October afternoon, but she rocked her newborn photography photo shoot and was asleep most of the time. We were even able to get some adorable naked baby pictures that mom very much wanted. Between all of the gorgeous Autumn colors and pretty neutrals, the entire collection of images were gorgeous. And this is why I love shooting at parks as a San Fernando Valley newborn photographer!

Los Angeles Newborn Photographer – Totoro

For this Los Angeles newborn baby photography session, the parents met me at a Sherman Oaks park. Their son's nursery is Totoro themed, after the popular 1980's Japanese animated film. Dad hand-painted all of its amazing characters all over the walls. So they wanted to incorporate its whimsy, woodsy characters and overall nature theme into their outdoor newborn portrait shoot. They brought along a stuffed toy from the film and I used a little Photoshop magic to recreate a famous scene from the movie. Between the first hint of Autumn colors at the park, and the fact that their little Prince slept the entire time, made for a gorgeous gallery of images.

Silicon Valley Outdoor Newborn Photographer

I was so excited when this Silicon Valley mama contacted me to do her baby girl's outdoor newborn photography session. It meant another trip up to Palo Alto and the most amazing outdoor garden park! Mom wanted an ethereal, Greek goddess themed newborn shoot and actually found a nearby site that featured a water temple complete with huge columns - perfect for the magical theme. Of course on the day of the shoot it was record-breaking heat up there...it was just as hot as it was in the San Fernando Valley that day. But thankfully there was plenty of shade because goddesses don't sweat!
